problem is...

the (new) battery drains when the cars lys for a good while. when i jump start her she'll run and go for ever and i can switch her off and on and she'll be ok. its just when she lys, she loses the battery power.

its def not the altinator or the battery so would anyone have any other suggestions as to what it may be?

Whats the voltage on the battery when the engine is turned on? If it's 14v then just buy a new battery. If it's 12v or less buy a new alternator.
