Now i know these have been discussed a milliuon times on here but i really need opinions as i'm going to view a 1996 Mivec in black at the weekend.
I know the mivec in manuel is the best to go for but how bad would a mivec tipronic be?? Are the easy to drive etc? problems?
Anyone got a link to a good board like this for them?
I remember getting a quote a few years back for one and it was the same as a scooby! hope that was just a bad one.

As you mentioned they are expensive to insure, but look great and sound amazing.
People go on about them being 'slow', but I wouldnt class 0-60 in the mid 7's as slow personally.
www.ftooc.org
Personally I would get a Integra instead

197 bhp 0-60 7.2 more specifically, 140mph. Decent performance, but not for what you'd pay on insurance. Nice cars tho IMO

ye i said they are crap and what iv heard slow. i admit i should had put in my opinion they are crap, i have sat in pretty much every jap car in its league and i jst didnt like them, and i 'personally' dont think they look anywer near as good as the others. and speedwise, i said i have heard that they are slow.
but iv never driven one so i cnt really state my opinion on the drive
supra tt for me tho, epsecially because they do a uk model so insurance isnt as bad

I'm a GTO TT owner and am quite fond of its little sister the FTO Nearly got one instead of my first corsa. The FTO is akin to the Hyundai coupe to me, its asthetically pleasing but its not designed for all out grunt. Am sure some of the guys at FTOOC have some super tuned beasts though, now if you can fit a 6G72 into it

right,,,,,,surely you mean the non turbod versions right if you want to stay in the same league as you put it
mr2 2.0gt gay lol
celica 2.0 crap
supra is in a totally diffrent league all together rofl even the 3.0n/a has an extra 1000cc and costs a lot more
rx7 lighter, turbod so def aint in the same league either lol
ITR i agree with 100% but they are 2 diffrent cars,,one is an all out racer designed for lightweight while the FTO has aircon/climate control elec everything and is a much smoother ride
even a skyline in the same league (price range, engine capabilitys) would only be a 2.0 ltr na which is prob the 1 skyline no1 wants

yup theres a few now with evo engines, and of course the daddy over here richards twin turbod beasty that ran a 12.5 sec quarter mile at totb
not bad for a car with aircon and all mod cons lol

right so ur sayin that the same league are the non turbo'd models. but with the insurance ur payin on the FTO it will be similar price to the turbo model of the other cars insurance. (if that made sense lol)
basically, the insurance are high on them for what they are.

reason it is more expensive is that almost 99% of them were grey imports,,
you want cheap insurance buy a ralliart one
and also if you want to put it with the turbos,,,,,,,,,,a fto engine and gearbox if serviced reguraly will hit easily 150tho miles how many cars can do this that hit 9tho rpm??
there cheaper to run and maintain than a turbo so over a period of time it will still work out cheaper than a rx7/ big turbod beasty
