Got a pretty basic JVC KD-G612 CD player in my corsa. It was fitted in the summer by an ICE shop in town. I dont use the car much so not really bothered to look at the problem with it till now.
Anyway the stereo only comes in with the ignition which is fine.
But when you turn on the igition the stereo comes on then says 'Goodbye' and turns straight off. Similarily when you turn the ignition off the same thing happens.
In other words the stereo never stays on. It did work when it was first fitted for about 2 weeks but never since.
Im shit with electrics so any help appreciated.

so when you turn the ignition on its fine but as soon as you start the engine it turns off?

nope - turn the ignition on - it turns on then immediately says 'Goodbye' on the front and turns off.
When you turn the ignition off the same thing happens.
Its never ON so u can use it....

dont know if its a prob with the unit itself or the wiring....

when it says goodbye wiggle the key about. Ive got the problem as described above, when i knock the key with my knee, the stereo turns off, if i wobble the key about it turns back on again

Its the contacts to the ACC feed in the ignition barrel. You need a new contact end for the barrel
New one is between £8 and £12

I wouldnt trust any garage to do it apart from vauxhall as it is quite fiddy, ive done it myself on 2 corsas

If you buy the part from autovaux :

Thats for corsas 97 on
Vaux should charge £20/£30 to fit it if you went through the main desk, or if you go round the back and ask one of the lads they'd prob charge a tenner

For you it could also be the same knocking the pins back into place, either that or the connector to the barrell is loose.
