ebay. I don't use auto focsus so you don't have to bother about contacts. you'll loose infinity focus too. I use them on my 70-200. use them on a normal lens will mean your really close to subject

whats the closest focusing distance. on my 70-200 it is 6 ft so I have room to play about with. on a normal lens say 45cm closest focusing your going to be right up against the subject with an extention tube.
my method for using them is to get into the focus range then use the zoom to focus.

close up lenses to the same thingish. you'll lose infinity focus again. downside is that your putting extra glass in front of the lens which can degrade image quality. if you were getting one of them I suggest getting this
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Canon-500D-58mm-C-up-lens-ideal-75-300-USM-100MM-Macro_W0QQitemZ7564723289QQcategoryZ30070QQssPageNameZWD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
extention rings don't do anything to the image as it is just space
