i have a f20 gearbox and have had a few problems with my 5th gear lately, it worked fine few weeks ago but then started to jump out of gear then started to crunch going into gear now it wont go into gear, do i just need a new 5th gear selector or is it something else,all other gears are totally fine. cheers. Jon

sounds like the synchro-mesh for 5th gear-gets worn and will jump out of gear because locking mesh will be worn. ant get the synchro's from vx but can get non-gen,but by time strip box etc cheaper get another box.

Sounds like you have got a worn selector baulk ring as well as worn springs within the selector assembly on the mainshaft.
if just the baulk ring was worn it would crunch into gear but it wouldnt jump out of gear.
Find a donor gearbox that hasnt done to many miles if you can!
