right, had a slight problem starting yesterday with my engine making a strange noise, sounds like the pas pump is shagged, couldnt do anything about it, so i came home, at every junction it was really bogging down

so, today, i decided to service it to see if it was that or something else

driving to brosters, my car was bogging down massively, had to rev to about 3krpm to pull away

got to his house, and started servicing the car, changed the oil, checked the water etc, drove it, still doing it

changed the plugs, old ones looked as if the car was running lean, but its popping and banging all over the place, plugs improved it slightly, but not much

decided to change the air flow sensor in the inlet, to see if it cleared it up, worked slightly, not bogging down so much, but now i have a big flatspot at 4krpm, and stalling at every junction when i slow down

thought it might be the ecu, so we disconnected the battery and it still does it, also, no fault codes were flashing up

the thing i dont understand is why its developed a flatspot and pops and bangs even at low revs

anyone had this problem before? and what solved it?

cheers

no, would that cause it to run badly then?

also, i was low on oil on the way home yesterday, so i topped it up, but just guessed how much i needed, so i may have put too much in

cambelt solved it for me. (water pump bearings were shattered, had new pulleys and tensioners put on)

my c16xe sounded like i was making popcorn in the exhaust if i rolled down a hill in 2nd off the throttle when the revs were about 2k.

low compression on cyl3, so suspected headgasket, but could've been a dodgy valve seal.

you tried a compression test?

no, but i think i will, good idea

dont think its fuel pump, as it runs ok unless its under load

myke.... would too much oil in the engine bugger it enough to blow a seal?

too much oil can cause a seal to blow, but generally + or - 1 litre from the max on the dipstick is fine on these engines

why dont i know stuff?

if anyones got a spare engine i might be interested
