Right, they're all 1.6 16v engines, but how slow is the Gsi to the VTS & GTI? I know its slower but by far? What has the best top speed?
Cheers

VTS and GTi- mid 7's to 60, IIRC the GSi is about 9
GTI/VTS top speed is around 128mph, not sure on GSI

The frenchies are a fair bit quicker and handle better but IMO the Corsa is alot nicer to look at and better built so I'd rather go a bit slower myself. Some people wont agree with that I know

top end of corsa, about 125-ish, pos a little more... the VTS/GTI have gone above 130 on clocks at standard spec, but dont forget about speedo reliability issues
VTS/GTi are pretty identicle, same engine, similiar chassis & weight, pug handles slightly better than VTS...
GSi handles like a barge in standard form, also its the weight which slows it down as it is also a considerable amount heavier than a VTS/GTi
also, as standard, VTS & GTi produce 120+bhp, whereas GSI is either 109 or 106, depending on if its a C16 or X16 engine

I felt safer (more confident) taking corners fast in my 1.2 16v Sxi with full gmax 40mm kit and shocks... than I do in my 106 gti - the torsion bar is very bouncey / roley..
that said I do tend to be approaching corners a tad faster in the Gti

if you drive the 106 properly you would find it corners a million times better, you cant lose you bottle and back off, thats what causes it to oversteer, classic problem of the torsion bar, you need to keep it planted

Yeh I know - to be honest I go round corners a lot faster than I did in my Corsa... but where I would accelerate down stretches and be doing 50 into a bend, in the Gti I could be doing 80 / 90 ...
What I meant though is like if the road is bumpy - even when planted the back will be bumping all over the place... and the front will be torque steering everywhere...

My old VTS performed better than my old 1.6 Corsa in everything, except breaking down and the interior.

Agreed my brother VTR feels a tad unsafe on the limit also notcied as soon as you have even a passenger the performance is hampered quite dramatically

Yes, Saxos with anyone other than the driver do seem to slow down.

yes I found this too, its a bastard when you hit a bump going round a corner (quickly ) the back end goes haywire
