Ok so decided to finally take the plunge and update my beast.
I've just ordered:
AMD (San Diego) Athlon 64bit 4000+ 939pin 1mb L2cache Retail Boxed Processor With 3 Year
Warranty and Fan Included.
Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe Socket 939 Nvidia NF4 ATX - Sound 2 x GIGA LAN 1394a USB 2.0 1066 MHz
FSB SATA-R
Money spent so far: £382
Will spend some more time researching into the graphics card but I'm open to any suggestions, I'm after something using PCI-E/X with two outputs for my monitors. I want to play all the latest games on pretty high settings, and finally some Battlefield 2
I will try to keep this thread up to date.

Looking good James!
I'm in two minds about the ram/optical drives/hd cause I already have them bits in the current PC I'm using.
But I have a feeling I'll be ordering new ram so I have some decent stuff for the new board
That graphics card looks a tad old?

i have 3 80 gig IDE hard drives kicking around, but i decided that as i spent nearly 800 quid on a new PC it would prolly be better to go the whole way and get a new HD.
I just ordered a 250gb 16mb cache SATA 2 hard drive and it was well worth the money. noticably quicker.

the new 6800GS (replacing the GT's) are meant to be pretty good and are only £150 each. Get 2 in SLI and you've got a good system for not much money....

Yours packed up aswell?!
I have the Asus A8N mobo and the chipset fan has given up the ghost, contacted Asus about it who said to contact where I got it from (Scan.co.uk) so contacted them who said that it is a common fault with them and will send a replacement when they get some in stock - never did recieve it......
I've noticed no difference in operating temperatures without it however so I'm not overly concerned.
However, I've now slung in another gig of ram and a 2nd gfx card (now running in SLi mode) so I think I should get it sorted as it's getting hotter in there! Also a new case might be a good idea as I'm just using a cheap shitty 'Nokia' style one at the moment! lol
Was thinking of a Thermaltake one as they are relatively cheap (sub £75) and offer plenty of cooling and nice touches - opnions on them (or any other cases)?

I got myself an AMD 4000+, running with 2GB OCZ 2-3-2-5 RAM, and 2x 6600GT's in SLi, it's a beast, you won't be disappointed with the CPU...
