On Photoshop is the principal of changing the wheel colour the same as changing the colour of the car?

I have found this guide on Digimods
http://www.digimods.co.uk/tutorials/colourchange.htm

But im having trouble drawing around the wheel it goes wonky and i cant get it to look right, is there a tool or something that i need to use?

Basically i want my wheels





Doing in this Colour but i cant work out how to do it

try selecting your wheels with the polygonal lasoo tool and then go to image>adjustments>desaturate and then go to image>adjustments>brightness and contrast and fiddle around till you get the right colour

hold alt en going round
alt does straight lines so make sure u do loadsa small lines to make the circles

use the lasso tool but right click in the tool bar and select "polygonal lasso tool" its a click to click thing which does straight lines, ill do a quick shop for you though, im feeling nice

Yeah thanks alot mate, i managed it. Did it the way 01dhartley said and it was easy.
