Got a Corsa Gsi C16XE,
Now it drives fine more or less but when revved to over 3k or so it gets a little rattly as if there are like a couple of ball bearing loose in the cylinder (closest to the passenger side wing) seems worse when u drive it hard in a gear then let go of the gas as the revs drop u can just near this rattly sound
someone said it could be piston slap i have no idea what this is or if this is true, any idea's?

will check that out aswel, seems weird but the noise seems as if its coming from behind the glove box (obviously not the glove box or its contents)

he reckons it could be this, he is gonna check it out for me in two weeks time he said it could just be the pretensioners as they are plastic
i dunno have to wait and see i guess

if it is timing belt related you need to get is sorted now if the belt or tensioner fails you will be looking at a very big repair bill, more than likely it will scrap the engine

as above, my x14xe was making this noise, turned out to be the timing belt tensioners. may as well replace the water pump while you're at it

i wouldnt wait 2 weeks for him to look at it cuz if the tensioner or rollers are gettin noisey or breaking up you may be searching for a engine in 2 weeks time instead

I have the same issue on my X16XE engine. Just replaced the cambelt and tensioned up correctly. Replaced the lifters thinking it was them "tapping" also. But to no joy. Still the noise. Suppose it could be either the tensioner uni (but that was new around 8k miles ago). So i'm guessing it could be the water pump. Or maybe it could be the tensioner and was ajust a naff one. Seems quite a few people have this issue. Will look out for answers to this.

the pointer on the cambelt tensioner sometimes tapp against the waterpump on the small xe's when the engine is revved .. might need the pointer bending back a tiny bit .. or if you dont use the new bolt with the new tensioner it will make a noise too .. old bolts are normal ones and new one has a star drive head .. if you use old 1 on new tensioner the bolt rubs the crank pulley and makes a noise too

hmm still not sure if i should get him to replace the cambelt and that.
the weird thing is at idle there is a slight noise coming from the belt, could even be normal but when u rev it even when not moving above 4k u hear the noise which sounds as if its coming from below the injector rail between cylinder 2 and 3
however some guy was feeling for vibrations and said when the noise came in he could really feel vibrations coming off near the cambelt, would it be possible for the cambelt/ pretensioners to be making noise but the noise appearing to be coming from somewhere in the middle of the engine?
i might just get it done away as a pre-caution

Davcohen!!! Got EXACTLY the same problem as what you're having. Same sound but have it through idle and general cruising around in the car. ONLY time I don't hear it is under hard acceleration. But that's more likely to it being drowned out rather than actually not occuring. LOL. Really ticking me off.
