to cut a long story short, i blew a rad hose.. twice. Anyway i put the heater on this morning and its as if its been replaced by a small nuclear reactor, its really really hot... don't get me wrong i love it, but why would bursting a rad hose cause this

Maybe there was an airlock before and now that you've replaced the hose (or just gererally disturbed the cooling system) it has sorted itself out.

system must have been blocked before and the blow has released it
