Went and picked up my stage 2 cylinder head today.
Some may have seen my thread about halfrauds making a boo boo and not wanting their money!
So i went and bought myself a stage 2 head. The ports are larger and have had quite a bit of casting removed and it's knife edged where the ports split into two for the valves.
Few pics for you all.....

Was an eventful 100 mile trip to Telford as my cousin nearly got battered by a truck driver. Can't wait to get this baby on with some cams
The guy who did it works at a place called Head First in Telford, Shropshire and was a top bloke, would come recommended.

Paul - If your in Winnington any time, send a U2U, could come round and have a look
Ports have been matched to a standard manifold. It cost 325 + VAT, was a lot cheaper than i got quoted from a few other places!
Sly - Yep, X16Xe head. Going to be on with some courtenay sport high torque cams. Should go OK!

WGT or MikeAnics??
Out of the 2 I think I'd go for WGT for mapping & such, just seems like a better outfit??
Power-runs are about £50 tho at WGT, and £25-£30 at MikeAnics

I didn't think you'd say WGt for mapping
WGT for mapping then and MikeAnics for power runs. Out of interest, how much it cost you to have the GSI re-mapped?

not touched the ECU as yet, but I will be getting a MicroTech LT10S from WGT when I fit tb's & other goodies as time goes by...
WGT do DTA Unichip though... so might be worth giving them a call??

so it cost £380ish inc the vat, then a re-fund of £80? thats not too bad then, although there doesnt seem to be much work done on the exhaust ports? there still seems to be a big step between the front of the port and the valve? might just be the pics.
try putting a gasket up against the exhaust and inlet, then taking a few pics.

Head wooks look's fairly clean, but I'm still feeling that the air divider at the very top of the inlet is there for a reason, it's not liek vx engineers put it in for a laugh, and as for takign out the ports, just ot fit a c16xe inlet I guess? I'd be more concerned with the work round the valve throat and seat in the chamber than th eport size, as these often represent the biggest gains. Be good to see hwo it does.

Corsa808 - It's been matched to a manifold, so i should think it's enough. I thought the exhaust ports looked a bit small myself. I don't have a gasket, so i will post up pics of the old one when i take it off. Then we will see the difference.
Paul - TB's! Student loan going to take a hammering?
I was thinking of a unichip (Bit cheaper), i'll call down WGT tomorrow, didn't know they did them.

good to see more people tuning the smallblocks. when i had my head done (by Gary on Migweb) he took the step out between the valve and the face of the port. also removed the big lump above the sai holes in the head:
the manifold was also done the same.

Corsa808 - I see what you mean. No steps, just nice and smooth. As for the SA holes, there's still a bit of a bump above them, not as thin as in your pic above.
I'd rather throw a bit of money at my smallblock. It's done 49K, and runs spot on, so why get rid of it
