Hi,
im thinking of getting an SXI, SRI or Exclusiv. The new model since 54 reg.
I know the 1.2i does 0-62 in 11.8secs and the 1.4i 0-62 in 10.5secs. It also has 10bhp more.
Would you recommend the 1.4i over the 1.2i. Can you feel a larger difference?

There will be little difference in insurance between the 1.2 and 1.4. I will also be an additional driver not a main driver no matter the car.
Its the performance, speed and acceleration im curious about. Is there a big difference accelerating at low and high speeds?

Drive them both and way up the financial differences based on two cars you actually find and get quotes on. You need more to go on than speculation on here.
Find some cars, have a go, get quotes, do the homework.
Personally from those choices I would get the quicker one, absolutely no brainer for me, but then I can afford to insure it in my own name. You might want to get the slower one and start to build up your own no claims instead of fronting on another policy and costing yourself money in the future.

The 1.4 SRi is much better to drive than the 1.2 SXi. The 1.2 engine is gutless. Not saying that the 1.4 is a beast but its far better.

when i had my sxi the engine was not bad at all for a 1.2, wasn't fast but quite nippy for the engine size.

Get a 1.4 Exlusive, they have a pokey twinport engine, which is pretty rapid for a 1.4

1.2 isn't quick but its not gutless. Its a good compromise on insurance and I personally have never found them to be much slower than the 1.4s until much higher speeds thats in both the Corsa B and Corsa C!
In my case theres a significant saving on insurance and petrol over the 1.4 and doesn't lose that much power. Neither of them are sports cars

Surely accelerating from high speeds such as 50mph would be far quicker in the 1.4. Also, from a standstill, does the 1.4 feel much faster?

Go drive them.
I only suggest the 1.2 because I dont personally think anyone should have anything over that for their 1st car. I know I would of driven alot faster and more stupidly if I had had a bigger engined car. Prob would of crashed it.

Yep, but I dont think the difference is large enough to do that. WOuld just liek a car with a bit of punch and im sure the 1.4 has the extra kick over the 1.2.. What do you say?

i have a 1.4 sri corsa c and my GF has a 1.2 sxi - i have driven her car and i can say mine (1.4) is def. quicker in all gears than the 1.4. Not good for top end tho as its revving very high when ur cruising on the motorway.

how fast hae you gotten it..? Im sure its great for a first car. Was the acceleration much quicker.
Also, whats the gear shift like, smooth or stiff? I know on the Peugeot's that its very stiff and not nice..

The older 1.4's feel quicker in the Corsa C's than the newer 1.4 Twinport engine. Not sure if there is a power difference?
I would'nt say there is a massive difference between 1.2 and 1.4 twinport, not really noticable anyway

Fair enough, doesnt feel that much better to me. You'd be best just driving them both seeing which you prefer in that case. If you can afford to buy/run/insure the 1.4 then theres no reason not to get it if you ask me
