jcb grease is what i got recommended to keep them in good condition

Lucky my work have thousands of tubes of it...

The new improved highsports are supose to have better durability but im not for taking any risks and will be giving them mini services each week..

get the silverline versions that are stainless steel housings, wont rust quite so easily
also make sure and cover the threads in copper grease, or teflon based spray grease etc, should be ok if thats done every so often. or if not bothered about looks of them cover them in wax oil , thatll stop the dreaded rust

i used to look after mine, cleaned and copper grased regularly. Then just a few weeks ago came to change the top mounts, passenger side was fine.

Drivers side, put the allen key in the top, undoing the nut, started getting really fucking tight. So i thought sod it, allen key will just snap first, er no. Ping! big fuck off crack right down the middle of the piston. Fks are shite.
