I did it at college - its not that hard, the hardest bit is learning about Routing Protocols.
Definetely worth getting though

The hands on stuff is pretty much how I learnt, but you do need the theory to back it up in the field.

i work in the networking world, and my work collegues have all got CCIE and CCNP. Im working on my CCNA at the moment, and will hopefully pass it by april, then work onto my CCNP by xmas.
It is easy for me as i have all the equipment to hand, and all the books, CD's etc to learn from. BUT there is alot to learn, helps more when u do it day in day out in your job.
reseach for testking on google, as that gives you all the exam questions throughout the years!!
Also get yourself booked onto a ICND course, helps alot

How much do they cost and can they all be done from home apart from the exams?

i paid £1440, ccna1,2,3,4
additional 50£ for external exams.
I advise against doing it from home unless you already have access to the equipment and home or work.
You do need the handson practice, i find the lab simulators are pretty bad.

I can do the exams for free, through work, but I'd prefer to get my LPI (Linux Professional Institute) qualification first......although I've done the training for both CCNA & LPI.

I've done CCNA 1,2,3 the work for 4 but never finished it as they changed the course and I would have had to go back and do a bridging course as well. BT do all our Router work now so there wasnt really much point in me putting the effort in. It's harder now than what it used to be a couple of years ago!

5 years experience in cisco is alot, and you would expect to be pretty shit hot tbh.
you'd have to have a vast knowledge of hardware, software revisisons (complete bastards btw) and everything cisco.
