Maybe not then. A handbrake without a button like a single lever on a spring. As seen in rally cars.

Fly-off you mean?
Not sure they're legal on road cars, basically it's a handbrake with no ratchet, used on rally cars so you pull on the handbrake, let go when you've finished your slide etc and it flies off automatically.

fly off handbrake dude
basically like a handbrake but without the ratchet thing that locks it, so you can tweak it to bring the back round, then not worry about it staying on

a fly off handbrake, it's a hydrolic hand brake, plumbs in to the rear lines so you can lock the back wheels with ease, like finger power rather than yanking the wire handbrake.
Really not a good plan on a road car less it's a road legal rally car.

That's kinda the point, you can't leave it on, ie if you're parked on a hill etc. It's a requirement for MOT to be able to do that.

I was under the impression it was a second lever

No, second lever is usually a small brake bias control switch, you can flick all the brake pressure to the rear which has a similar effect to using the handbrake all the time...

my old man had one on his old RS2000 rally car.
had to lay down fake brake lines so it would pass an MOT

Some hydraulic fly off ones have an optional ratchet attachment for road purposes.
Handbrake must lock mechanically to pass MOT.

You can do this 'ghetto style' by simply holding the button in and drilling through the handbrake lever and the button. Then simply place a short metal bar through the whole and
viola
Very cheap handbrake then when its time to park up or whatever just pull the pin out and it will function normally

It flies out of your hand as you let go, letting the brakes off

i understand you Doug
you are basically making a device which holds the button in, but come MOT time, you can make the button come out, and then the handbrake works properly
