Well you can get diesel cars which are much faster, and as cheap to run.
Corsa Diesels aren't the best examples of TD cars anyway

my dad has an astravan new shape 1.7td, loads slower than my 306td. I would'nt bother unless it is a simple job, can't see it though.

Best thing to do is get a 1.7td isuzu engine right away. Strong engine which can handle boost. Do some mods such as a bigger turbo (not too big else it would have a lot of lag), large intercooler, overboost, cone filter, decat. You should see 100bhp at least. Still cheap to run and you almost have as much bhp as a 1.6. You can change to larger injectors and so on .. but then it would be more feasible to switch to an xe and get more power.

depends what year corsa it is, the corsa c/new combo is the isuzu 16v, i wouldn't bother with a turbo conversion though

I am talking about those of yr 93, don't know if the ones on the astra g are isuzu. All I know that the ones of 93 are more reliable + if I'm not wrong are 82 bhp whereas the later ones are 75.

Get the 1.7TD engine out of a Cavalier. Think its meant to be a relatively straight forward swap

no point doing all that unless you do it all yourself and can get an engine for nothing, 306td comes with 92bhp standard and you can turn the turbo up for nothing, (safely) and have 100bhp+. Thats less hassle, more power in a better handling chassis.
