This shall sound really dumb but.. how do you remove it from your computer? I have looked in the control panel under add/remove programmes but Internet Explorer aint an option.

I'm looking to Get rid of the one i have and then install another version and then see if that sorts out my problems

Ive never done it but I would think that you first need to change the "program access and defaults" which can be found in the start menu under control panel if you are using anything above SP1.

well, if you upgrading to beta 7 or something you will not need to uninstall your old version. if your downgrading then you should find it in the add/remove control panels section.

To disable Internet Explorer in WINDOWS XP, modifications must be made to the REGISTRY EDITOR.

Incorrectly modifying the Registry Editor can cause serious problems so
the following list of instructions must be followed exactly. Failure to do so may require that the XP Operating System be re-installed.

1.Click START
2.Click RUN
3.Type REGEDIT
4.Expand the registry by clicking the + symbol to the left of the following folders in the registry

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Software
Microsoft
Internet Explorer

5.Right click INTERNET EXPLORER
6.Left click PERMISSIONS
7.Under the Security Tab, HIGHLIGHT each individual user in the top window
8.Click the DENY check box in the bottom window for each user
9.Click APPLY when all users have been denied access
10.Click OK
11.Reboot the machine
12.Verify that all Internet Explorer icons are disabled

Failure to follow the above instructions EXACTLY may require that the XP Operating System be re-installed. Do not change any other settings in the Registry Editor.

Modify the Registry Editor at your own risk

BTW some say that completely removing Internet Explorer from your computer is not recommended because there are some Windows components that still use Internet Explorer, so if you get rid of Internet Explorer, then Windows will not function correctly.

I would have thought that the easiest thing to do would be to d/l the new IE7 as it is a stand alone browser so might sort out your problems without having to tinker with the registry.
