I dont knwo if I've mentioned before, but we've got a mini sitting in our garage, recently decided to do something about it. Me and my dad were discussing a range of ideas:
- Repairing it so its completley stanadard/original
- Slight modifying - exterior styling, exhaust etc
- My idea was to strip it, big engine and make it a track day car, but my dad said no
This evening was spent standing and looking at it, and deciding what to do, and what we needed to buy.
Todays Progress Report: N/A
Here's the car:
looking a bit sorry for itself,
side view. the wheels are still good, just need spraying, and a new set of tyres.
note my message for Vibrio
Does anyone have opinions/suggestions/ideas for what we could do with this. The likley outcome will be a nice looking subtle Mini, ready to sell
Iaz, step aside
I know i need to get my camera phone to fuck.

if it was a MK1 i;d have said keep it original
but... as it appears to be a mk3, then it needs a metro turbo lump, zeemax bodykit, leather interior and 7x13 superlites

some of those zeemax kits look alright, not the full kit, the arched are too wide, but the front and rear look ok.

you have to chop the bulkhead out to get a turbo engine in.mine had a turbo lump in it before the 1293 but it went bang.

Yes they do Robin.
The most you need is a tiny bump like half an Avocado on the bonnet to clear the timing cover.

tiny bump? the last KAD mini i saw had a bonnet which was about 4" higher in the middle
or was it the birmingham supermini? might have been that, in which case it was a vauxhall engine
either way, Jack Knight heads are better

Nah, KAD lump fits a treat Rob.
Saw what looked like a standard Sport pack Cooper at the Bromley Pageant a few years ago.
It had a small teardrop/elipse bulge on one side of the bonnet that was almost unnoticable.
I was looking at the bonnet and wondering if it had a KAD in it, and then the owner started the engine.
Sounded like a bloody superbike.
I asked him to see under the bonnet.
He obliged and what appeared to be the head off a cross channel ferry emerged from under the tiny bonnet in a TARDIS-like fashion.
It realy fits like a glove. You wouldn't think the bonnet would shut, but it does. It's very deceiving looking and the bump is only for the timing cover.
It looked lovely btw. No air cleaners and forward facing throttle bodies.
180bhp from a 1410cc at just over 10k.
