Pinnacle Studio is simple but effective, getting technical i'd recommend adobe premier elements

adobe premiere - a bit tricky to use at first, but its semi-pro stuff. Then get after effects, to do anything you want like masking etc
Otherwise, if you have a mac, Final Cut Pro or Avid - about the best stuff out tbh
