100000000% sure. they use a map sensor to measure manifold vaccum pressure rather than an air mass meter.

unfortunately, on these engines theres 20+ things that can cause a missfire. any one of the sensors, timing, wiring, earths, injectors........

impossible to 'guess' over the internet. if no em light is coming on then take it to vaux to read the values that each sensor is giving off. thats the easiest and quickest and probably the cheapest way in the long run.

if it is coming on then do the paperclip test

MAP Sensor is the plug about an inch along from the Header Tank Cap.

its the inlet air temp sensor. makes very little difference if its there or not really. adjusts fuelling by a tiny amount. modern cars use the cts as the main temp sensor on the engine

does it only missfire at certain rpm?

mine has done this before... spluttered and sounded like a v6 until 2500rpm, then it was fine, but drop below it was rubbish again until driven for 15 mins

although it seems to have fixed itself lol although did it the other day once or twice which was first time since like jan/feb

Cheers for replys guys. It only does it if the car is left for a while. When I come back to it and start up again, it misfires for a few minuites and then its fine again. Seems as if its only doing it when its cold. Seems to be alot of condensation coming out my exhaust latley too?

cts is the main sensor that the ecu uses to adjust fuelling during warm-up.

don't think its headgasket.

i've had mine replaced before and when it was leaking it was only firing on 3 for 30s after starting.

also when mine started doing this i've kept and eye on everything, oil is clean, not going down and coolant is fine as well.

there was a bit of water in my air box from where i drilled it not expecting water to run down side of my bonnet into it so don't know if that was anything to do with it.

strange how mine fixed itself though. just keep driving it matey, keep ur eyes on oil and coolant and see if it sorts itself out?

Cheers mate, Well i went to get my air con fixed today, all working so happly about that. While i was there i queried about my head gasket as i checked my water today and It was low. The guy measured emisions and he said its on its way out. How much is this gona cost, probably alot on labour rite?

mine cost about £350.

that was with price off:
head gasket set (inc bolts etc)
cam belt roller as one was buggered
head skimmed
price of compression test
oil/coolant etc.

can probs find somewhere that does it a fair bit cheaper than that, i think i paid too much although its a good job done
