My amp just stopped working the other day, so checked out the wiring, seems all ok and there is power goin to the amp. when u turn the headunit on the sub moves and makes a quiet pop, then the protection light comes on, on the amp? the no sound at all?
any ideas what it could be?

Hmm Double check the Earth Wire would be my advice

yeh check your earth and sub/speaker connections and check their polarity

if this happends when you turn the amp on, i would try disconect the sub from the amp leave the cable bare but not touching anything and then turn the amp on if it still does it then it may be the sub is blown and going to ground and switching the amp off, if the amp comes on and then goes off with nothing connected it is clearly the amp at fault, if it comes on and doesnt go off try a mates sub for a quick test and see what happends
