are there face-on speed cameras...i.e. taking the pic fron the front of the car?
or are they only from the back?
was driving down a road, speed camera on the other side (i.e pointing to my front) flashed twice....there was no car on the other side it was supposed to flash...
Is this possible?

GATSOs (the ones that flash) shouldn't face you, as being flashed in the face would be dangerous. Truvelos face you, but they'll be on your side of the road not the other.
Either way, if you weren't speeding, you have nothing to worry about.

Still, if it flashed white, was facing you and was on the other side of the road, it probably wasn't flashing you. Most, if not all, speed cameras are on the side of the road they're designed to monitor. Stops traffic getting in the way of the picture and whatnot.

Not true, Truvelos can be on either side of the road and are turned to face whatever way the wish it to face.
As it flashed twice you'll be fine as Truvelos only flash once and yes before anyone says otherwise they DO flash

True, i have first hand experience of this,
If the lens was circular and it was front facing you have been caught.

Theres one near me (a standard Gatso) that I set off regularly going towards it - It flashes regularly, but it doesnt register me - just flashes.
There's a rumour that if they flash when you head towards them, they are fake gatsos (ie empty shells with a flash) as if they are genuine Gatso's they should be properly calibrated so that they only go off when cars going the other way are caught. I dont know how true this is.
But I wouldnt worry anyway mate

^^ this is quite true. One that flashes when you go towards it is probably just a crude mechanism, a lot cheaper than putting up proper Gatsos with all the expensive radar and camera in them. The telltale is when there is one of these 'fake' static cameras, and a few minutes down the road, they regularly put out mobile camera units.
There's also cameras that just flash randomly to put the shit up people.

Put it this way - the one I was referring to, Me and several of my mates regularly go throught it and set it off flashing (at least 3 times a week) and we have NEVER received anything.
