This morning was going to work as normal and a fire engine came behind all the traffic. All the cars moved up on to the curb to let it past so i was wondering

what happens if you damage your car by having to move for the emergency services? who is to blame? How do you go about rectifying it?

Its not happened to me or anything just curious thats all.

It's your fault. You don't HAVE to move.

Fire Engine smashed in to a load of parked cars in town once, my Dads old Cortina GL was damaged and they paid for the repairs.

If you damage your own car, they won't pay!

I had to SLAM my brakes on and as it was wet i went sliding accross the road! Bastard nearly went head on into me he must of been less than a car length from killing me and my missus

I almost got wiped out by a police car over taking a line of trafic round a blind bend the other week on way home from work........fooking shat myself when I seen it coming towards me, hit the brakes & started wobbling all over the road & shut my eyes thinking I was going to hit it then woke up in bed clenching my sheets - it was just a dream & not true at all, close one though, I nearly cacked my pants!!

The only vehicles by LAW you have to move for are

- BLOOD DONOR VAN
- ROYAL MAIL VAN

But as long as its safe to do so - the emergencey services are obviously attending someone in trouble so why not cooperate and just move out the way.

police car nearly went into back of me the other day, i couldnt pull over as there was no where to do so (on A1, in outside lane, crash barrier to the right and inside lane was at a stand still and no one would let me in), the this police car just kept getting closer and closer to me as a hint but there was no where i could go! eventually someone let me in when traffic started to move again
