lighting is poor, composition is poor, and you've cropped the back of the cat off. try and get lower down so we can see the facial expression and make the light even over the cat.

for a first animal shot i thought it looked pretty good

dof is depth of focus, which means which parts are in focus, like yours has the dragonfly eyes in focus and the wings aren't. Is a nice photo
