Hi, My Girlfriends dad is selling his private plate but we are not sure what its worth.
We are going to advertise it in a Jaguar Enthusiasts mag for £950 as it would Suit any Jaguar XJ or specifically a Jaguar XJ12. Any idea how much it would be worth?
The plate is - XJ12 374 so could also be spaced XJ 123 74
Any help would be great.

tbh doesnt sound like it would be worth much at all, perhaps as a dateless plate you might get 150 or so??

Not when theyve got 2 letters theyre not.
He needs to pop the thing onto a certificate of retention. I think its called a V317, it will cost him £105 to do. Then when someone agrees to buy it he needs to charge them £25 to amend the certificate so they become a nominee. Basically he will hold ownership of the plate until they put it on their car.

Yes I know, just wanted to know roughly how much its worth to see if its worth selling? I thought dateless plates cost quite a lot?

Depends, the 2 digit ones are worth alot more. I bought my NUI9262 for £50 + transfer fee etc. Plates are only worth what someone will pay, best way to work it out is by using something like newreg.com as a guide. but they are rip off merchants hence the reason for using them as a guide lol

Yeh I know what you mean about what ppl are willing to pay, thats why we though a Jag Mag might be good for a XJ or XJ12.

XJ12374 isn't a valid number.
I think you'll find the plate is actually XJI2374 and worth about £30-£50.

Just because there's a space between the XJ & I doesn't mean it's a number 1
