few people have told me there is a bit of smoke coming from my car when im booting it sort of a light grey/blue sort of colour, going to get the cambelt done soon anyway so at the same time i may aswell get the headgasket and valve stem seal's done.

Is it a compression test i need doing to tell if the seal's are leaking ? car uses quite a bit of oil but its not standard so im not sure if this is normal, about 1.5ltr's every thousand miles....

Thanks Rob

PS. Car run's perfect on idle and when moving and accelerating no wierd noises etc...

Does it smoke on idle? If so its probably stem seals......

I thought excessive consumption would be down to rings, does it mainly smoke when the engine is on ful load.......i could never tell in the daytime with my old car, just at night when cars were behind me with there lights on....

I'd defo do a compression test for the rings, dont think this will give you much clue as to if its stem seals or not though.
