is it possible to fit an c16xe head to an xel
some tell me the pistons would need changing etc other say the pistons in the x16xe and xel are the same

pistons dont make a difference...
but to be short, the cams will fit and work

heads are practically the same, same stroke IIRC, its the inlet that is the difference between the two, the XEL has smaller inlet ports, and even more restrictive manifold

the x16xe and x16xel head and cams are different (well one of the cams anyway) also on the x16xel there are no cut-outs in the piston for the valve clearance as one of the cams has a shorter lift.
this isnt on all x16xel's tho, ive seen 2 like this and others the same as the x16xe. asked vaux about it once and the confirmed that this is the case.
if you remove the cam cover and get a torch down plug holes you might be able to see which one you have
