They sent me a letter last week saying that my BB would be down for approx 2 hrs on monday due to upgrades. Come tuesday it was still down, so I phoned India ( ) and the useless woman insisted the phoneline was fine and that I should maybe rest the router as their end was fine, I did this as not all lights were on. Still nothing so I phoned them back and someone else said the line was still down as they had encounted technical dificulties! He aslo said not all lights were on as it wasn't receiving a connection FFS, I've gone 2 days without broadband, unnessecarily rest my router and spent god knows how much on a premuim phone call! They will be receiving another shorty for a MAC code!

Seriously don't go with them. The down time I mentioned above lasted a week. No ceompensation for downtime either.
The service has now been down again since Friday, with no prior warning.
I'll find someone else when it comes back online.

Ive had no end of problems with Tiscali, did one of those DSL report programmes a while back...
quote:
Downstream 178.9 Kbps ( = 0.2 Mbps )
Upstream 241.4 Kbps ( = 0.2 Mbps )
I'll get good results with online games i.e. no lag but then i try and preview a track on iTunes and it cant cope with it

tbh I don't blame you. Tiscali are utter wank.
Their bloody "Max" package is still only running at 2.3meg for me All because I dared to d/l about 1gb in my first month with them

Tiscali are absolutely shite..... I had nothing but trouble with them from a very slow service, to caps put on usage from 18.00 - 23.00 each day, which when you consider it was shared between 5 of us, was a bit of a piss take, especially on a so called 'unlimited' service. They issued a excess usage warning, telling me I should 'only browse the internet and check e-mail to ensure everyone can share the bandwidth in the local area', when they were putting adverts on the telly every day advertising the service to get more people sharing the same bandwidth.
Then when i came to cancel when i finished my uni year, it has so far taken 3 calls to cancel, where both previous times, i was assured the account would be cancelled and they still continued to take money from my account, because they never cancelled the direct debit.
