Help please... I think my other computer may have a virus. It started acting all funny and going really slow. So i tried re starting it and now it wont switch on. It just has a black screen with a little curser in the top telling me to control, alt & delete and then it just returns back to the black screen. I dont know what to do with it, I have just unplugged it and left it. I havent opened or downloaded any thing unusual.

do you have anything you need to back up? if not then put your windows disc in and restart your machine it should then boot off the disc and you can reinstall winodws from the onscreen options. Remember reinstallings windows will mean that you will loose all data.

You need to set-up your BIOS so that it boots from a CD, then stick your XP disc in, follow the insructions, delete the partition, then create a new 1, then its just follow the instructions until its installed.
*Deleting the partition will delete EVERYTHING from your hard-drive*

Actually, you dont need to delete the partition, you can just go over the top of the partition. As it will just format the partition and so you wont have to create a new one then.
Also the first boot device should already be setup as cd first.

restoring is for gayes.
Its always best to do a fresh install then atleast any crap which has been put on the machine ( as there will always be some, somewhere ) will be gone and so a good format and reinstall will sort that problemo out.
If you have important data that needed backing up i would of then recommended the restore disc and then once the data is backed up then format and reinstall.

so restoring isnt for 'gayes' after all...
my point...to try and retrieve his music or any important info and then format
Yes, I format my pc and make a fresh install every 2-3 months
