im trying to install windows XP X64 on my partition (40 gig).
I can manage to boot of the CD ok, everything begins like it should, copies all the necessary files accross, then i get the message at the bottom 'Setup is starting windows' and it stops there. wont go any further.
Im confident its not my CD.
Does anyon have any ideas?
Failing this, does anyone know a workaround so that i can install the OS whilst in my main 32bit os of Windows XP?

Bart silly question and I'm sure what your gonna say but is the 40 gig partition a fresh partition? ie does not contain the 32bit XP version?. Only asking because some info in the knowledge base about similar start up issues when installed on the same partition.
Just throwing ideas into the mix

best bet would be to remove all extra hardware, ie pci sound cards, usb cards etc etc, had this problem a few times in the past, had to strip the system down to basics untill setup was finnished then install the hardware, failling that are you running the latest BIOS?
