Right, i know how to wire everything in.
Got a Sony head unit, and im going to install a 600w Kenwood sub.
Only thing it need to know is, where the 2 wires come from the amp to headunit, and there is the smaller thin wire (remote wire) where does the remote wire go to?
Also will it help if i buy a Vauxhall>Sony extension?

The Headunit sould have RCA's (phono leads) coming out of it, going to the amp, and the thin blue wire sould go to amp aswell (hope thats what you ment)
Also run the power cable down a diffrent part of the car for the amp, away from the RCA's and the remote.
As for a extension, most have standerd plugs on, so they souldnt be any need.

Do i just connect to a wire that is only live when the ignition is on?

no, your sony head unit should have a blue wire on the back and it will most likely not be connected to anything
this is your remote cable
