He should've been on the BBC commentary team, they have also been getting more orange by the day.

World class tactician though.
The FA made their bed for themselves because of their opinion on his business 'dealings'
Funny now he may be coming back as an assistant now.
Win win situation for the FA then. Faceless english manager, with somebody who knows what they are doing as a number 2.
Im almost hopeful for 2008 now

I've always thought Venables was good, foreign managers is a waste of time also, no passion involved.

Sorry, but how wrong are you in that post?
passion? hell yeah....we tried that with Keegan, there couldn't be a more passionate bloke. Tactically ignorant in the extreme, but useless. he admitted as much and walked.
Wrighty? admitted the same this week.
Psycho? far too early, never played abroad. Maybe later.
Shearer? open verdict there...talks the talk, im never convinced about a one trick goalscorer being a manger tbh

Yes but the passionate ones can just help coach, don't have to decide tactics etc :S
Get Psycho invlolved now, we don't know how good he will be long term but get him involved, he'd give the players the kicking they need!!!

You miss the point IMO.
All this bollocks about the 'manager' choosing the tactics, and a coach training them to do that is a pile of wank.
We end up with a disjointed side that doesn't know its arse from its elbow.....cant adapt, and is made to look stupid.
This tournament is point in fact.

My thoughts exactly Robbo. I can only think/hope that maybe hes going to use what he failed in to help the team do better.

Marc/robbo...
You shame us lads.
The FA wimped out and used venables outside interests to force him out.
Simple as really.
We lost the best coach we ever had.

Never venables would not have done great IMO a England boss...
Venables quit as I remember for legl reasons (impending court cases... :S) then promptly took up the aussie job
