hoping to take the c20let route soon for the corsa, had the all clear from insurance and have already started to save up
my corsa at the moment is a 94 plate gsi c16xe, the engine is fooked, burns and leaks loads of oil, full rebuild required!!
i dont know a lot about these 2litre turbo cavalier/calibra engines and how they are after being transplanted into a corsa, ive read up on previous posts so i have a little knowledge, but if you can just fire away with advice and tips would be great as im trying to get as much info as possible
what kind of problems can occur while fitting and after fitted?
what kind of maintenance is needed??
and importantly will it last??
im not looking to tune it, just a standard 204bhp c20let in a corsa
i have uprated brakes, coilover suspension and exhaust already on the car..
so all i need is the engine+f28 6 speed gearbox and a engine transplant kit etc???

thanks for the advice mate
ive thought it through, but im not 100% yet! but its somthing ive always wanted to do to my corsa in the 5 years ive had it, im hoping to keep the car for at least another 2 years!
and now the insurance is cool with the conversion and i have some cash saved up!
also my current c16xe engine to be rebuilt properly and everything checked and uprated im looking at about £1000 anyway!
im hoping for the c20let conversion to cost maximum of £3000 including all parts etc and a professional fitting it!??? is this possible???

what i really need is someone around here that is really good at fitting these engines and supplying them!!
but anyway, wont be doing it just yet, trying to get as much info as possible
i have a 2.5 bore exhaust at the moment, so hopefully could just use that, also can use my current c16xe exhaust manifold and down pipe with the c20let engine??

No it will have to be as muppetsport said minimum of 2.5" exhaust pipe bore and that will have to be from the turbo.

will most likely come with the manifold and turbo. but not sure about down pipe.
yes you can use the standard downpipe and the mate it up to a new exaust.

everything will be from the donor car. My advice is to ALWAYS here the engine running first... Its not worth the hassle and expense of a rebuilt just to save a couple of hundred quid. Also if you buy a complete car you can make you money back twice over by breaking it....
Im in the middle of putting one into a nova. Its been rebuilt from top to bottom. Not been cheap but thats what i get for trying to scrimp...
Front mount the intercooler for best results and for a longer life span of engine. LOL

cheers mate
how much did your rebuild cost??
i hear alot of advice about the intercooler to be mounted properly, must be really important!
and i thought the best thing to do is to rebuild it anyway?? would cost loads though!! unless it was already rebuilt or in great condition!??
yeah maybe buying the whole car would work out cheaper in long run!
i checked autotrader, looking at least £2000 for a calibra with c20let at 100k min??
