driving to work this morning and i went past a speed camera now i think i was still on it or just past it deffo doing 30(30 limit) and it flashed twice but there was another car on the other side so it must have flashed at him but how does the speed camera figure this out??
not worried about being caught as i know i wasn't speeding but im just curious as to how the speed camea figures this out
also just for fun here is a paint depiction of events

if the camera is on your side of the road pointing at the back of your car then I would say its you that its flashed!

Didn't think they flashed at drivers going the other way
I've been in 60 limits before where there are speed cameras on the other side of the road and gone through at 70 and not been flashed so presumed they only get cars going the other way.

Yes, they always flash the rear...
But Truvelos can take pics of the other side too iirc.. 'of the front of a passing vehicle, this allows the picture taken to show the driver of the vehicle as well.'

if you are sure you were not speeding, then it might be that the camera is defective and randomly flashing....had almost a similar problem some time back, i was on the other side and it flashed facing me while no other vehicle was on the limited zone...maybe a fake camera

speedy can definately make the camera flash but with it being a gatso can't get prosecuted.
you will be fine don't worry. this has happened to me before.
also i have been going through a speed camera on a dual lane road through anniesland and someone overtaking me got flashed. i would have been in the pic too but because i wasn't speeding never heard anything

i *think* the lines are used as a measurement of how fast you are going (comparing the 2 pictures the camera takes)
If there were no lines on the other side of the road, whats stopping someone speeding through the camera on the wrong side of the road?
