My licence has been clean for just under a year too LOL, got a NIP in the post today from Thames Valley Police's gaylord squad for doing 36mph in a 30mph zone. I was speeding UP a hill leaving High Wycombe...

The thing is after I passed the van there was a 40mph speed limit sign.

GAY.

bit of a piss take getting done for doing 36 in a 30.

Do they not offer you a speed awareness course there?

Not really, haven't you seen the 30/35 killing kids adverts? 30's there for a reason, most the other speed limits are also there for a reason but they are money orientated

And you can kill kids doing 36mph up a hill on an enclosed dual carriageway just before a 40 sign how?

I wasn't on about that. The way Cosmo worded it implied that doing 36 in a 30 is acceptable all the time.

those stopping distances on the adverts are taken pre-ABS (and probably brake discs), so are not actually that acurate with modern cars.

I agree though that speeds outside schools and heavily built up areas are stupid, but if he was doing 36 just before it goes to a 40 zone I think its stupid.

nah, Im not one to agree with speeding in the wrong places, but some 30 zones have little need to be 30, and getting done for doing 6mph over it is harsh.

If speed cameras stuck to being outside schools, parks and places like that then there would be less hatred towards them.

Sorry Ribena.

People who live in/near High Wycombe will probably know the road I'm on about, leads out of Wycombe towards the M40 roundabout.

I just read the stuff they sent me, it says if I am eligible to go on a speed awareness course they will tell me, I can't ask to go on one.

Yea, but where he got caught, the van is in that place for a reason. That reason is to make money. It's a 30mph dual carridge way where there are no schools. Then when you get to the entrence of a school the speed limit is the increased to 40, then when you get to the next school the speed limit is 50.
