Ok my laptop has given up the ghost and i need a new one...HOWEVER i have a quite tight budget of around £350.....cant really push it further than that..its goin on my credit card as it is! lol
anyone got any suggestions of where is best to find a half decent lappy. with a bit of spec...wireless...maybe widescreen for this kinda price range?!

Toshiba Tecra 9100 can be had for about £150 - £200 on the bay.
For £350 the Toshiba Tecra M1 would be my first choice. Great laptop with all the modcons. Wireless, Bluetooth, Infrared, loads of USB ports, Firewire, DVD/CDRW etc.

nice 1...are toshiba quite good on the laptop front then?

yeah they're not bad mate.
Obviously the Sony Vaio laptops are quite nice  but the 9100 and M1 should be sufficient for what you want it for.
Haven't really looked into Dell that much so can't comment I'm afraid.

I got a small lightweight Acer for £399 from comet, its pretty good, all i need to do is stick somemore RAM in it.

go for the dell....I have the 2200 inspiron..it's almost the same specs...
add £35 for the pentium M...instead of the celeron
but the toshiba seems good too...
