I remember when i first came on CS back in 2001 and there were not many 2.0 XE corsas around.
this was just before the new gen of 2.0 hot hatches were getting really popular, clio 172`s, 306 GTi etc.
the thought of a 2.0 in a corsa was wetting my knickers, remember how highly people used to think of them, It was like OMG 150bhp in a corsa it will be insane etc etc, how things have changed.
I really wanted a 2.0 corsa and went and bought a red GSi with mint body but dying engine. Here is the best bit, Pete at PVD Was going to do the conversion, and i remember late night IRC (yes IRC lol) conversations talking about the conversion and pricing it up etc.
IIRC The whole conversion including zorst, suspension and some RIMS was going to come in at £6k I wish i still had the emails to show the pricing etc.
I never went ahead with it in the end, but i was creaming myself at the thought.
to quote pete when i asked about the performance he said, "2.0 Corsa will be very similar time to standard escort cosworth down the 1/4"

£200 for fitting kit.
£400 for a Cav GSi 2000
and then £500 worth of bits to re-build the engine

I remember those days, seeing a c20xe in a corsa at shows used to amaze me, but now it amazes me to see a 1.4 or 1.6 under a corsa engine bay

It's mostly one extreme or the other now. 1.2 8v, 1 litre 12v (bad extreme) or the redtop (good extreme)
