have been offered this camper for FREE.

right so could it be sorted out for a reasonable amount of effort and money or is it a scrapper? doesnt have that much rust and insdie we would just kit it out with seating etc...not kitchen! would be year project i woulda thought!

anyone got a clue on the engines? i know its a 1.6 is this a beetle engine?

also any camper forums any1 know of?

Hmmm, to be it looks pretty rusty and if it's bee sat in that field for a while then I dread to think what the underside will be like.
Best bet would be to take it, get it up on ramps and have a look, the main worry are the heater channels that run down the sills as these rot from the inside out.
If it runs it might be worth spending £35 and putting it through a MoT to see what needs doing.

But on the positive side, looks like the engine has had a new carb put on recently, the interiort doesn't look too bad and can easily be sorted and the bodywork panels look pretty straight.

Like I said the main worry is gonne be the underneath, things like ball joints and steering componants are actually pretty cheap (as are engine dress up kits), goto a good newsagents and pick up the latest VolksWorld magazine for ideas and shops that sell all sorts of bits n pieces.

nice one...well we want it as along term project so in no rush to get it all sorted...my mate looked enderneath and everything seems ok...no major rust holes or anything missing...

Save it Dude! I was offered one of these last year, but it was too far gone and we had nowhere to store it!

Still really want to own one of these one day though. Whack a Porsche lump in it one day too!!

brilliant things...

Drove from Aberdeen to Newquey in a 2.0 1971 Camper... managed to hit 90

The 1.6 one wasnt so quick

I'm going to buy one at some point

Put a small gas burner hob in there, mate has his kitted out in his splitty, he takes it to weekend shows, sleeps in it then cooks himself a nice fry up and with a kettle he has everything he needs for a full english

we r gonna give it a go at renovation first...will be our 1st project like this....1st things 1st we r gonna totally strip it all and clean it up...
