i love the look of both the VXR and 888 tbh, VXR might b better due the engine sound not sounding like a diesel but guess i wouldn't really b able 2 tell unless i'd drove both

and the fact its got 40bhp more hasnt it? Plus u can get that uprated...
Interior is nicer on vxr as the 888 is just a sri IIRC.

I think its much better value, but if i had money for both, i know which one id choose

888 is more exclusive, fast enough for what you need for a road car and still returns good MPG.

Its the one I'd go for. Just stick a set of nice recaro seats in it!

If you can put up with it being a diesel then go for it mate

they look great IMO, the rims and brakes combo is sex and the suspension is meant to be good aswell!

im sure tehy have better seats than the SRi's though i cant really remember, get over to astra sport and ask on there!

plenty of people are starting to tune them aswell so that torque and bhp figure can be upped to VXR power very easily!

They are just Standard SRI seats but there is a Recaro option, personally I think they are styled better than the VXR as its just the Irmscher stuff and yes I should imagine you could push the BHP figure higher if you wanted.

On the road its probably just as quick as the VXR anyway, I think i'd rather have a 888

Probably quicker throught the twisties due to having vastly more torque.

Why would that help it through corners, especially when it has a heavier diesel engine encouraging understeer between the front whels?

888 is better on the motorway, more economical, not as common, not as tacky looking IMO, I'd definitely go for the 888 over the VXR.

think i need 2 test drive, see what the engine sounds like, whether it sounds too much like every other diesel

Well for starters the weight of the engine would make it harder to slow down and harder to turn into the corner. Then through the corner it's be more inclined to head straight on, then exiting the corner, assuming they're in the right gear, the VXR driver would be able to exploit the near 40bhp advantage over the 888. Unless they had to stay in one gear, the relative torque would have nowt to do with it.
