Looks like McClaren will leave him out his first squad, basically calling an end to his England career.
Whats peoples thoughts on this? as an outsider looking in i always thought he was the most hard working player on the pitch the qualifier against Greece where he scored the free kick and ran the length and breadth of the pitch was maybe the best single performance i've ever seen from one man you need to remember hes still probably the best crosser of the ball in the world.
Bad move imo, think McClaren's doing it to show his authority, could backfire on him.

Been needed for a long time IMO. Yes he was immense against greece but that was what 5 years ago?!
Shouldn't of played as much as he did in the world cup everytime Lennon replaced him we actually looked like we might score

I don't think he's gave any less effort any time he's played for England though, that's my point. If he has been dropped i can see him taking it pretty bad anyway

All he offered in the world cup was dead ball situations. He's got no pace left IMO of course

I wouldn't call him the best crosser in the world!! Hes good but I thought Dwight Yorke in the world cup produced some crosses/corners that easily equalled him.

Jenas is a Championship player at best. It is an insult that the usless donkey is even in the squad over far more worthy players

Every time he came on for England we looked more threatening. You mustn't have been watching the right games
Yes he's young and still has a lot to learn players have to start somewhere and he's going the right way about making a name for himself

I think it must be you who hasn't been watching the right games. Please tell me which competitive internationals Jenas has proved he is worthy of a place in the squad ahead of the likes of Nolan, Parker, Reo-Coker and SWP all of whom are far more capable players that Goldfish imo

Reo-Coker should have been named England captain. I hope Anton gets in the squad too!

I think dean ashton will be in, with owen and rooney both out, i think beckham needs to be in the squad though, he is still a world class player who can change a game with one simple pass. Im not saying he should start but maybe used as a sub.

I said it throughout the World Cup that Beckham was playing shite the young lad Lennon was first class and wanted to beat defenders and get forward
Beckham is now a one trick pony and even then that trick doesnt work 9 times out of 10
Good on McLaren for having the bottle to drop him

I have to agree with Jules on Ashton not sure he is quite their yet, I mean his record last season was no better than our donkey Ameobi and Ashton scored scored a majority of those goals in the Championship. Saying that it's a good opportunity for the lad to get some experiance

think its shocking that theyve dropped beckham, if it wernt for him i doubt we woudl have won a game in germany, let alone get there imo.
he offerd duperb crossing, leadership and experience.
