reason i ask is because there is a 1.4 16v sri for sale near me for 1K on blk cav rims dropped rally exhaust new plugs and leads and looks the biz, or theres a gsi on 17s lexus lights which both wud go and id trune that, thats also 1K

Yup, even it it was a 1.6 sport i would still go for the Gsi just cos its a Gsi and you've got the tunability of the 1.6 still.
Buy the Gsi, loose the 17's and Lexus light, drop it on some 16" softstars, then tune it how ya like

X14XE
1.4 just lacks the torque. X16 lacks the head design and can loose power top end tuning wise.
