going through maccy d's drive thru and car cut out temp gauge was nearly in the red , tried starting and nothing, tried again and smoked poured out all through the heater vents and steering colum, pushed it out the way left it 10mins started it up again and was fine let it get hot turned it off started it up and nothing smoked came out the air filter this time so i left it 20mins temp was still saying over 100 but i though whilst its running ill make a go for gettin home, lol left the car park and the temp gauge shot down to 0 stayed at 0 all the way home 10miles and was doing 70mph down the motoway got home turned it off tried it and nothing more and more smoke ? does anyone have any ideas sorry its a bit of a essy but only way i could explian the problem

Once its started, does it really bog down when you pull away?

yeah but it doesnt run once its stated its jumping and sounds like misfire, but the temp gauge was all over the place over 100 then down to 0 , when should the fan cut in my engine is the 1.4 8v as was sitting in the drive through temp gauge below 90 then looked away and was in the red cut off, smoke filled inside car up , but then turned it off for 5mins started it up and fine turned it off tired it stright away and nothing just more smoke, any1 else had any troubles with the 1.4 8v engine doing anything like this ?

sound like heater matrix may have also gone!! reason termp guage went down to 0 is cos theres no water left in it!! if you drove it for 10 miles you may even have scraped the head / block

on my 1.4 8v the fan audibly kicks in at 95 ish, takes it down to 90 again reasonably quickly

my 1.4 8v fan cuts in at about 97-98 then down to about 92ish

no checked the water and the level is spot on has'nt moved, anybody got any uther ideas ?

nope got compression on all 4 cylinders and they are all high , any ideas ? i want to know why it poured out with smoke inside and it was coming out the air filter

to get the head reskimmed and fitted by a garage cost me £400 inc VAT, so did it damage other stuff too??
