I go to uni in a month - don't know really why i bothered but it was fun and looks nice 
took all my crap out:
no bathroom for a while 
Up comes the carpet and out with the grab sticks... layed some more underlay down to go in the gap
Floorboarding gets laid... tis a bit tricky sometimes around the door and parts of the room
moving my stuff back in....
fixed my snowboards on the wall to

you'll regret that!
You'll need to brush it everyday as hair and dust shows up and makes it look shitty, and any noise in the room will sound 10x louder so get used to your mum n dad wondering what all the moaning is!

Hmmm i've been in the room below and it's fine we tested it out with just that patch first
The underlay is only a membrane with foam beads which is about 1mm thick. The underlay from the carpet is a foam and about 5mm with minimal bounce so it doesnt flex.
It is cleaned regularly don't worry.

my whole apartment (other than bedrooms and bathrooms) has similar stuff and I have to brush it about once a day as it just attracts shite. Im amazed at how dirty it gets even when Im not there.
My room at my parents is the same as yours aswell and thats just as bad.

aye, the reason my parents refused to let me do it, as with the original floorboards it was noisey as hell!
But it certainly looks top notch dna, hard to do?
Btw, where is the light from (ikea?) and duvet? - picking out bits for my current room!

It looks like normal floorboarding in those pics but it isn't the only real purpose for a plastic membrane is to stop any moisture damaging the new boards but with it being on the 2nd floor, a new house, no signs of moisture in the existing underlay i didn't lay any! If it goes wrong i will relay it but atm i'm confident it's ok... When i did downstairs i did lay underlay but this time i felt it was ok to go without
As some of you have mentioned... you don't realise how much crap must get into your carpet  i'm forever sweeping up dust and bits of crap but i like it
Dom, not to hard mate I got all my stuff out, carpet up, sorted out the underlay (bits needed adding around the edge), cleaned up, flooring down and beading added in 4 days that also included painting my skirting boards again when the carpet came up
The floor lamp is from Ikea mate £34 notes iirc and the sheets i think were from John Lewis
The room below mine is only the dining room so when its in use likelihood is i will be there atm this has posed no problems!

We put down sound deadening under the laminate when we laid the stuff. I hate it, so glad I have carpet in our new house.

How did you find it? Easy job or not? Mine went ok... beading around the edges is expensive and didn't realise how intricate it can be but all turned out ok!

Mine are simply on two hooks at the bottom and then another hook in the middle on top  can be removed when needed It does look good mate and with ski's you could maybe get away with just the hooks!

I laid it in my room and at my sister salon. You can buy these sissor type things that have all the angles on to cut the beading for the edges, makes it alot easier!

Cosmo - I ended up creating my own jig with 45 degree angles... did see one of them in the shops but made it myself helped out a lot!

I'm gonna do mine next summer. Had carpets put down last summer which cost over £700. Think is should at least get some wear out of them lol. Pain in the arse to clean, especially in the middle of the night when i'm bored
