we havent the money to spend doing anything fancy, thats the cheapest and easiest way to build a 60k seater stadium.

Usually i'd agree with that, but it does have a few touches to it. I actually like the look of it.

I think it looks ok, ok so it aint ground breaking but it'd still be one of the better stadiums in the PL

Rather than moving the statue and gates and getting a new museum why not just turn Anfield into a museum?

too big, need the land to regenerate the area, etc.
I'd love it to be turned into apartments like Arsenals, but the area is a bit of a shit hole so wouldnt be the best area to live in.

It's not the most desirable area to live but suppose they are trying to regnerate it all with stadium so you never know might be a bargain to be had around there just now.
Be a sad day to leave anfield though eh

Yeah, old one is getting knocked down.
I used to live right by the stadium when I was first born, and my mum and dad both grew up in Anfield so it will be good to see the area regenerated.

thats bolox to be honest, if you wanted a better looking stadium then go for it, pick a new architect, rather than the same group who made wembley millenium stadium, emirates blah blah blah.
you should be making a statement as a club to show ur mathcing those of man utd etc and with the money that stadium is costing then surely theres other ways.
rafa has already said he wants a high and steep stand like those of the boca stadium in south america, one that creates atmosphere like liverpool fans are renowed for.

its bollocks is it?
So you know how much money this stadium is costing? How much a different and more complicated design would? Know how much we have struggled to even get the money to build this one?
We wanted a similar design to this but 75,000 originally, and we couldnt afford that to it was dropped to 60k and even then we still havent finalised exactly where the money is coming from for it.

and where has he said that?
Ive heard him say it doesnt matter where we play, either in a new stadum or the old Anfield we will create a special atmosphere. But never anything about having a steep stand.

we never have had a lot of money. Im amazed the board still find the 20-25mil a season that we spend on new players as the funds coming in are no where near what they should be for a club our size and with the history we have.

Emirates cost loads more but people seem to forget that Arsenal had to buy the land rather than lease it... there was a lot of demplition and rebilding works to be doen (relocate Ind Estate and water treatment place) and they will get income from old stadium works...

Yeah just googled it, £390mil
Ours is costing about £180mil. not sure if we are going down the sponsorship route though to get some finance in.
