looks like a nice(ish) car, but to make it succesful over here, we would need a lot more power from the 6lt or a smaller but just as powerful engine - one of the reason im guessing the moanro didn't last in the uk

what why would it need more power? HSV are dropping the 550bhp LS7 into one in the near future...

because people expect 370bhp from a 2 litre in a 4 door saloon these days
or a 3.2 six cylinder bmw. (give or take a few horsies)
LS7 one would be

Robin, those are whizz bang engines. they dont even come close to the nature of the chev lump. the way it produces torque from that engine is like no other on the road. cant beat OHV for simplistic grunt and with the modern touches, it revs hard for such a big engine.
this engine though, coupled with the VE HSV is gonna blow the performance sedan market out of the water
one hell of an engine! 550bhp from an N/A V8

lapped the BFYB test track in 36.8 secs, same as the Mazda6 MPS, and 0.2 secs off the pace of the new Audi RS4 and BMW Z4 M Roadster

spunky, dont get me wrong, the engines are pure shex wee and the sound of the dudes V8 in my village is just awsome - but for the uk market where fuel prices are completly stupid, having a 6lt engine that rapes fuel and requires you to remortgage to pop to the shops....you get the idea
One of the reasons why the monaro didn't stay over here - lovely cars, but far too costly to use day in day out

did you know the Mazda6 MPS is being used to do hillclimbs in STOCK form, apart from decent tarmac tyres. it really is that good. this thing is almost as fast a 4WD 440bhp RS4...and costs a quarter of the price!
