can anybody tell me if a toothed belt is the same as a cam belt?

most belts have teeth of some kind on them.....

Oh.....
Was asking for a mate, shes took her car in for service today or summat, she just asked me this:
my cars been for a service today and the cam belt needs changing, looked through my service history when i got home its says the toothed belt was changed 10,000 miles ago, so i presume there the same thing??

then yes, its the cambelt. the auxiliary belt is ribbed.
