When you moved out, did you rent a place first or get a mortgage straight away?
I got a mortgage first but only coz i was with my ex and we had a decent combined income. Don't think i could have afforded to buy if i was on my own so would have probably rented.
Just wonderin what most people do

depends on the situation i suppose, i have three mates who all live together in a rented house. Every bill gets split 3 ways so its a very cheap way of getting out of your parents.
