My van started out life like this:
Time for a change.....
Decided to do some smoothing and get a better exhaust......
Then i bought martin_c's old wheels and re-sprayed it......
Then i had an accident on the motorway with a brick which ripped off a sideskirt So i plodded on with a little more smoothing and ended up with this.....
BUT! Its all change yet again! Its going away to a bodyshop for lots of things to happen to it, which i will not reveal at this moment in time.

Get rid of the back lights aswell and get it sprayed gloss black, not matt black as it looks completely unfinished

nice one, a dark tint on the back window would finish it off and make it look smoother i reckon.

iaz, its a normal black base coat then a 2k lacqer with a matting agent in to dull it. i had it mixed and had samples made till i was happy with the matt-ness (if there is such a word! lol) of it. when you open the tin its almost white is the lacqer its that cloudy but it goes on clear.
your right aswell that you can't polish it up with g3 compound as it'll shine up. its just a case of washing it as it gets filthy in no time! worse than white!

Might as well get this thread re-started!
Took it to a bodyshop, where i started to pull the van to bits. Here it is looking very poorly!
Then we started on a bit of metal work, and getting a shape for it. We cut the original arches off and cut the inner arches out and re-welded them for clearance on the wheels. We then welded on some arches from a........ not telling you yet!
Then we started to fill it and start a whole lot of smoothing.
And this is how it stands now. Its in filler primer, so needs rubbing down then priming and spraying!
