Yep, that's right.
I'm fairly out of touch these days with computers and stuff, so...
Recommend me a laptop for £500-600 please
http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/118194
That's the best value i've looked at but don't know about Acer being a good laptop make they used to specialise in monitors from what i remember.
Also the Dell 6400, but it seems to cost more than that Acer.
Cheers

Dell can be good if you catch a promotion, double memory, free delivery etc. The regular stuff isn't so keenly priced.
Not sure about Acer, no experience of them.

Yeah, that Dell i'm looking at, with 1yr Warranty it's £590 or something, (3yr puts it up to £700 or so) with double memory Up to 1024mb, and Free del, free all-in-one printer ...

don't add up the warranty now, do it after a year then extend by 3 yrs, you'll end up paying less than £100 for the 3 years.
I just did the same with 2 of my dell laptops.
oh and I paid £128 extended 3 years for both making it £64 each and it is an on-site warranty
Just got a new power supply, new dvd drive and new motherboard re-installed

Ah-ha, good thinking, i was gonna take the 1yr warranty anyway if i did choose Dell, can sort out the software issues myself, and hardware usually breaks a day after the 1year, so if you can extend it at the end of 1 then that's good

mine broke before i extended it
so I just called, put a new warranty for 3 years (all hardware except battery) and then after 3 days phoned Tech Support that it wasn't poering up
New P.Supply
New DVD-RW
New Motherboard
all in 2 days. Changed on site
super service
The inspiron 6400 seems to be a very good deal
I also have a friend who buys from the dell outlet and sells at much better prices. If interested let me know

you can extend a dell warranty anytime you want even after 1 year the warranty has ended
